Terms of use

The service

Sparring Chess is a training tool for chess openings, run by Sparring Chess Labs. You can use it without an account; some features need one. Using the site means you accept these terms.

Your account

Keep your login details to yourself and give us an email address you control: it is how you recover the account. You are responsible for what is done from your account. One person, one account.

Your content

The lines, repertoires and games you upload remain yours. You let us store and process them to provide the service to you. Only upload material you have the right to use.

Fair use

Do not try to break, overload or scrape the service, and do not use it to get around the terms of Lichess or Chess.com. We may limit or close accounts that do.

Chess data and evaluations

Opening statistics come from the Lichess opening explorer, whose data is released under CC0, and evaluations come from the Stockfish engine. Both are provided as they are: a verdict is training feedback, not a guarantee about any position or game. Sparring Chess is not affiliated with Lichess or Chess.com.

Availability and changes

The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability. Features and prices may change. If a paid plan is introduced, what it includes and costs will be shown before you pay, and features you use for free today will not be charged for without notice.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, Sparring Chess Labs is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from the use of the service.
