How Sparring chess Works

Study chess is hard, but it's harder without an opponent that lets you practice what you studied

Practice your openings against a sparring partner that plays real moves from players at the level you choose.

1. Choose your line

Select the opening you want to practice as a starting position.

2. Configure your sparring

Choose your opponent's level: they will play real moves from Lichess games at the rating and time control you select.

3. Import your games (optional)

Upload your Lichess/Chess.com games to see how you usually play in each position.

4. Upload your repertoire (optional)

Upload PGN files of your repertoire (an study of lichess for instance) to check if your moves are the ones you have in your repertoire / study.

Sparring Configuration

Configure your sparring opponent's skill level and playing style. Your opponent will play moves from real Lichess games matching your criteria.
